RIYADH- American Express has announced its summer promotions for this year, which include special offers from a variety of cooperating businesses. Lasting until mid-August, the promotion period coincides with the summer shopping season.
According to Mazin Khoury, chief executive officer of Amex (Saudi Arabia) Ltd., the “exclusive special offers are designed to provide added value for American Express card members and increased sales for merchants.” Promotions range from up to 37 percent discount on car rentals, up to 30 percent discount of clothing, jewelry and home accessories, buy-two-and-gel-one- free offers, special package deals on home electronics, gifts and free American Express travelers checks.
The official said that seven Saudi banks have recently concluded deals with Amex to accept American Express cards electronically at their point of sale terminals installed in shops, supermarkets, retail outlets, restaurants, hotels and elsewhere throughout the Kingdom.
The banks are Saudi Investment Bank, National Commercial Bank, Saudi Hollandi Bank, Riyad Bank, Saudi British Bank, Arab National Bank and Banque Saudi Fransi.
Amex has also recently launched the new gold credit card billed in Saudi riyals. The new gold card aims to “provide more local financial flexibility to the already existing dollar-based prestigious American Express gold charge card.” The old-fashioned charge card is slowly being replaced worldwide with the more convenient credit card.
However, the company will only say the credit card “complements” the portfolio of American Express cards “for everyday personal and business use and is aimed at financially responsible affluent Saudi professionals who want a prestigious card.”
The official said American Express credit cards would be accepted at thousands of outlets in Saudi Arabia and millions of points worldwide. Its features include retail protection, online fraud guarantee, express cash. emergency card replacement and 24-hour- customer service. “We are working also to provide more benefits to our customers”, the company promised.
According to the official, Amex has been involved in several community welfare projects including charity programs since it started its operation in Saudi Arabia.
