Indian Prime Minister ManMohan singh held talks with Minister of Commerce and Industry Tawfiq Al – Rabiah in new Delhi on Thursday and sought greater cooperation from Saudi Arabia in all fields, describing the kingdom as “valued partner”.
Tonio Borg said that he discussed the Maltese initiative with Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal at great length at a lunch meeting in Riyadh on Tuesday. “The liaison office can play a more effective role following the recent developments in the Middle East and this office can eventually become the focal point for dialogue and regional summits,” said Borg, addressing a press conference after his talks with Prince Saud.

The proposal to transform the GCC into a union of Gulf states, which will herald a new era of Gulf cooperation amid changing regional alliances, figured prominently in the final communiqué issued by GCC heads of state.

Veteran diplomat Saud Al-Sati has been named new ambassador to India while Fahed Al-Rasheed will head the Saudi mission in Kuala Lumpur.
