Indian School In Dammam Tops In Class XII CBSE Exam

RIYADH/DAMMAM/JEDDAH: International Indian schools in Riyadh and Dammam have reported outstanding results at the All-India Senior Secondary Exam (Grade XII) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, whose results were announced yesterday.

While the Dammam school (IISD) stood first in terms of the percentage of passes, the Riyadh school (IISR) made history by securing all the three top positions in terms of highest percentage of marks in all streams cumulatively.

The Jeddah school (IISJ) said out of 429 students who sat the exam, 326 passed in first division, 69 in second division and three in pass division. Six of them could not qualify the exam and 25 students were placed in compartment.

According to results, 99.28 percent of the IISD students were successful. “Of the 419 students who appeared for the exam at our school, 416 passed; 26 of them were placed in compartment in one subject,” said IISD Principal Dr. E.K. Mohammed Shaffe. “We have maintained our tradition of producing excellent academic performance this year too,” Shaffe said.

“The results show the historic academic achievements of the school in key subjects, which have improved significantly,” said IISR Principal Manzar Jamal Siddiqui. The figures show that about 93 percent of students, who sat the exam, have passed.

“First time in the history, all the three ranks first, second and third, in the Kingdom, have been captured by the IISR students,” said Siddiqui. Talib-ur Rahman, former chairman and currently a member of the IISR managing committee, also expressed happiness over the record results. Total pass percentage in humanities is 100 percent, in science stream 95.74 percent and in commerce stream 86.49 percent.

Siddiqui said 423 students sat the exam, while 392 of them passed. The total pass percentage is 92.67. All three toppers in the Kingdom, who are from IISR, include Sharija Ravindran secured 95.6 percent marks, Nazneen Makhbool 94.2 percent, and Arshia Fathima and Roshni Thekkethil Ravi, both 93.6 percent.

Toppers in the commerce stream on the school level are Aisha Mohammed, who has secured first position with 93.4 percent marks, while Zakiyyah Muazzam Ali has grabbed second position with 92.8 percent marks. Nithish Toms Alex has third position at the school with 91.4 percent marks.

Toppers at IISR in humanities stream include Humaira Siddiqui (first) and Shahnaz Khaisar (second) and Ameerah Kaja (third), who have obtained 87.4 percent, 83.8 percent and 80 percent marks, respectively

Jasmin Rahiman and Homa Khan are the toppers at the IISD with 93.2 percent marks each. Rahiman also top-scored in the science stream. Fatima Zeba came second with 92.2 percent. Sreeja Kumar and Tesil N. Sani shared the No. 3 spot with 92 percent.

Among others, Devika Sankaranarayan topped in commerce stream with 91.8 percent. Areef Basit Ali and Karan Panchadar top scored among boys with 90.2 percent marks. Jasmin Rahiman and Faisal M. Aslam scored 100 percent in computer science. Gulfishan Rasool and Aasia Nadhira scored 99 percent in home science. Jasmin Rahiman and Devika Sankaranarayan scored 99 percent in math. Sirajul Muneer scored 99 percent in business studies. Karan Panchadar scored 97 percent in physics and Sana Musthafa 97 percent in chemistry.

IISD Managing Committee Chairman M. Asghar Khan joined other committee members in congratulating all toppers, their parents and appreciated the teaching faculty and other staff members for their “tremendous efforts in producing such a good result.”

Among the girls at the IISJ, Maryam Siddiqui topped with 93.4 percent followed by Adeelah Yahya with 92.6 percent and Hiba Shahid with 90.4 percent. Among the boys, Harish Sudhakaran Nair topped by scoring 92.4 percent followed by Fazil Mohammed Izhar and Master Nabil Ibrahim Bhai Patel by scoring 92 percent and 91.4 percent, respectively.

IISJ Chairman Salah Karadan said the results this year had shown qualitative and quantitative improvement as compared to last year. He congratulated the students on behalf of the managing committee and said the results reflected the hard work of students, teachers and parents.
