RIYADH, 29 September 2003 — American Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Robert W. Jordan will leave his post in the middle of October, said John F. Burgess, director of public affairs at the US Embassy, on Saturday. Jordan was appointed US ambassador to the Kingdom in 2001. He was nominated by President Bush on Sept. 12, 2001 and confirmed in the post by the US Senate on Oct. 3, 2001. Burgess said Ambassador Jordan, who has not completed the three-year normal diplomatic term, “gave notice” to the US administration a couple of months ago, expressing his wish to return to the US.
