A group of dentists at the King Saud University (KSU) have studied the medicinal properties of the miswak (teeth cleaning sticks) commonly used in Arab and Asian countries, and have concluded that “the beneficial effects of miswak for oral hygiene and dental health of a person using miswak are equal to, if not greater than, those who use toothbrush and paste. The research identified 19 natural substances found in miswak that benefit dental health.
RIYADH: Two Filipino workers were arrested on suspicion of engaging in homosexual prostitution and 13 other Filipinos were detained on charges of liquor trading and consumption in two separate raids here on Saturday.
RIYADH: Child labor is becoming a problem in Saudi Arabia, where nearly 1.54 percent of the child population works, a study said. The study, first of its kind in the Kingdom, commissioned by King Abdul Aziz City for Science & Technology (KACST) and conducted by Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Al-Naji, put the Eastern Province on top of the list at 2.3 percent followed by Makkah, Madinah, Asir and Riyadh. Economic issues are the primary driving factors behind child labor, followed by other factors that include dropping out of school and domestic compulsions, the study said.
