Retail giant Basicxx opened its flagship store in Riyadh’s fashionable Haiul Yarmuk district defying all talk of recession in the Gulf region. The new store, in a big box format, brings together some of the most exciting international fashion concepts and has a gross floor area (GFA) of 1,800 square meters with adequate parking facilities.
Speaking after the formal inauguration of the store, Munawwar Hussain, Basicxx’s country manager, said: “The two-storied store has under its roof more than 20,000 merchandise including all kinds of apparel for men, women and children.”
The inaugural event was attended by a large number of guests and customers including Salem Al-Maliki, Basicxx recruitment manager.
Hussain announced an ambitious plan to open eight new stores in 2017. “We are all set to add new stores … thanks to our senior management led by Mohammed Adil, Basicxx CEO,” said Hussain. He further said that the plans to expand Basicxx operation have been emboldened by the SR 890 billion (spending) budget approved by King Salman last week.
Spelling out the salient features of the new store, he said: “The new outlet caters to the entire family’s requirements from footwear, lingerie and kids-wear to home furnishing and winter garments.” Hussain said that the opening of this mega store comes in line with the Basicxx policy of expansion as the Kingdom’s retail sector has been witnessing sustained growth in the last few years, even outperforming other major sectors by a significant margin.
Promotions at the new store include a SR 50 shopping voucher to every customer buying goods worth SR 200. He said that Basicxx’s fashion and home products are made to last for decades, get better with age, and fit as if they were custom-made. “With 12 stores in the Kingdom including the new one, Basicxx draws the whole family to experience and enjoy the goods of their choice,” added Hussain.
The new store also offers a wide range of apparel and accessories for men, women, children and infants as well as homeware, which cannot be found in other fashion stores in the GCC.
