Prince Khaled, Prince Andrew discuss tie-up in education

Cooperation in the field of education between the Kingdom and the UK topped the agenda of wide-ranging talks between Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, minister of education, and Prince Andrew, Duke of York, here Wednesday. Prince Andrew, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II, is currently on a visit to the Kingdom to strengthen ties between the two countries.
“There is a great potential to boost closer cooperation in the education sector besides the existing partnerships in defense, politics and commerce,” said a statement released by the British government on the occasion. “The UK is internationally renowned for its world-class education and training sector, and many countries are keen to access this expertise for their own development,” it said.
Prince Andrew also visited the Saudi Stock Exchange, the Arab world’s biggest bourse, on Monday with a delegation from the British Embassy in Riyadh led by Ambassador Sir John Jenkins. Adel Al-Ghamdi, CEO of the Saudi Stock Exchange, welcomed Prince Andrew and the British delegation who were greeted by a number of Saudi officials and senior executives.
Al-Ghamdi gave an overview of the history and evolution of the Saudi capital market and described the Saudi Stock Exchange’s journey of development since its inception in 2007. He said that the visit of Prince Andrew “emphasizes the Saudi Stock Exchange’s increasing visibility and its evolving role and importance in the global marketplace.”
