Businessman and philanthropist Prince Bandar Bin Saud Bin Khalid M. Al-Saud, who has been extensively involved in a number of charity projects and organizations including King Faisal Foundation (KFF), was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at this year’s Arabian Business Saudi Achievement Awards.
Prince Bandar was presented the award at the local Al-Faisaliah Hotel here yesterday.
Prince Bandar, who sits on the board of about two dozen companies besides being the KFF’s deputy managing director and the chairman of the Al Khozama Management Company (AKMC), expressed his joy on receiving the award. The prince, while speaking to Arab News in an interview on this occasion, dedicated the award to his country and to his countrymen. He also pledged to “work tirelessly for the welfare of the people.”
“I am happy to be given a chance to serve at KFF, which has launched several commercial and charity projects including schools and universities recently,” said the prince.
The award citation said “Prince Bandar has made an impact on the national stage commercially and philanthropically.” His role is the most high profile being at the helm of AKMC and very demanding because of the company’s diverse portfolio.
The prince is involved in changing the face of the hospitality business in Saudi Arabia with some of the country’s most iconic hospitality, retail and mixed-use complexes undertaken by his company.
AKMC owns and operates several five-star hotels across Saudi Arabia, including the Al Faisaliah Hotel in Riyadh and Al-Shohada Hotel in the holy city of Makkah. He also has grand plans to expand the business, potentially impacting the country’s hospitality sector.
The Arabian Business awarding ceremony, organized by Arabian Business magazine, was attended by over 250 distinguished guests who were mostly businessmen, CEOs and senior executives of various big companies in Saudi Arabia. Arabian Business is the Middle East’s leading weekly business publication belonging to the Dubai-based ITP Publishing Group, a media giant that publishes more than 75 weekly and monthly magazines and has a wide portfolio of market-leading digital properties.
The award was also given in 10 different categories. In the category of best architectural design, the Arabian Business achievement award was conferred on Princess Al-Anoud Bint Khalid, chief of Juam Design, which offers world-class architectural design services. In a short message, Princess Al-Anoud said, “Saudi Arabia offers endless opportunities for women and it is up to these women to work hard to pursue their dreams.”
The award in the retail company category went to Jarir Book Stores. Essam Al-Hassan, marketing director of Jarir Book Stores, received the award during the ceremony. In the real estate category, the award was given to Dar Al-Arkan. Mohammed Al-Najfan received the trophy on behalf of Dar Al-Arkan, a company that has launched several commercial and housing projects in the Kingdom.
Mohammed Fahed Al-Hammadi, vice chairman of Al-Jazea Group collected the Visionary of the Year award. Other winners included Ewaan Real Estate Co. in the category of real estate, DHL in the category of best logistics company, Kinan Real Estate Company as the best developer, and Al-Hammadi Hospital as the best health care company.
