Mexico, GCC to hold political talks regularly

The Gulf Cooperation Council and Mexico signed a memorandum of understanding here Wednesday on regular political consultations, which will see the two sides strengthen cooperation in various fields.
On behalf of the GCC, the MoU was signed by Abdullateef Al-Zayani, GCC secretary-general, at the GCC General Secretariat here.
“Jose Antonio Meade, Mexican foreign minister, signed the MoU representing my country,” Mexican Ambassador Arturo Trejo Nava told Arab News.
“The MoU is an important starting point for the development of pivotal legal instruments for holding consultations and for strengthening our relations,” the ambassador said. “We look forward to enhancing our relations further.”
He said he was confident that the signing of the memorandum with the GCC and Meade’s wide-ranging talks with top Saudi officials would boost cooperation in the political, economic and trade fields. The Mexican minister was welcomed by Prince Muqrin, second deputy premier, Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf, SAMA Gov. Fahad Al-Mubarak and Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah, deputy foreign minister.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, assistant minister for petroleum affairs at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, also met with the Mexican official.

The Kingdom and Mexico reviewed bilateral cooperation in trade and investment in several fields, especially in energy, petrochemical industries, and agriculture, he said.
