Indian actor Shatrughan Sinah played a new role of an educator on Saturday night when, as chief guest at the annual day celebrations of the Delhi Public School, Riyadh, he exhorted students to gain knowledge from the teachers and books and become “role models” in society.
Sinha called on students “to prove themselves to be ‘better than the best and try to be different from the rest.” He advised students “never to leave his/her originality and individuality.”
He reaffirmed his belief that “health of the nation is the wealth of the nation.”
He said: “The best gift we can give to our children is the gift of wisdom.” He then shared some mantras with students for success. He also released the school magazine.
The event was attended by a large number of Saudis and Indians, including Ibrahim Al-Qayid, Nadeem Tarin, Mairaj Mohammed Khan and Khursheed Shah Khan.
He called on the teachers, students, and the parents to carry the social messages of “Say No To Drugs” and “Shun Tobacco” to the society at large supporting the strict anti-drug policy of Saudi Arabia.
“I’m impressed by the school and Indian community going through the report cards, wide variety of cultural programs and achievers presented here today,” he said, while referring to the cultural programs staged by the DPS students. Around 55 s awards were distributed among students for their excellence in academics, sports and co-curricular activities.
Six DPS staffers, including teachers, were awarded for their dedicated services to the institution. They include Sheba Naaz, Sameera Khalid, Ayesha Anjum, Armeen Kotwal, Mohammad Mahfooz Akram and Afroz Khan.
