RIYADH: Girls of International Indian School-Riyadh (IISR) organized a business exhibition at their campus with great enthusiasm to enable themselves under school guidance to produce work as entrepreneurs and collaborate with industry.
The event, titled “IISR Girls Business Expo,” was inaugurated by Seema Kotalwar, wife of Hemant Kotalwar, charge d’affaires at the Indian Embassy.
Speaking during the inaugural ceremony, Seema commended the innovative efforts of students and teachers.
“In fact, the IISR is at the forefront of creating and disbursing knowledge; and this was another effort of the girls section to show commitment to excellence in education, while equipping students with the finest principles of business,” said IISR Vice Principal Asma Shah.
“This event was organized as part of the curriculum of New Delhi-based Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) that requires a project work from the students from the streams of commerce and humanities,” said Shah.
A large number of students, teachers and members of the IISR managing committee were present at the business expo.
Prominent guests, including Nuzhat Rehman, wife of Hifzur Rahman, second secretary at Indian Embassy and observer of Indian schools in the Kingdom; Shafi Sattar, managing committee chairman; IISR Principal Dr. S.M. Shaukat Parvez; and members including Dilshad Ahmed, Mohammed Naseeruddin and Sultan Mazharuddin attended the business event and encouraged the participating girls.
Referring to the rich students’ stalls featuring a range of food, cosmetics and games, an IISR member said that the students had been advertizing and working for this event for the last several days.
The event was mainly designed to give a platform to bring out the creative business ideas of students, and also to prepare students to compete in various competitions.
The IISR is one of the largest Indian overseas schools with close to 10,000 students and hundreds of teachers. The school is affiliated to the CBSE.
